The reaction of the United States to 9/11 was the dumbest thing I witnessed in my life until the 'rona came around.
After 9/11 the frightened public backed a war on Iraq, even though the hijackers were Saudis. I didn't have much context for what was going on at the time and was still interpreting the world from a narrow, normie perspective, but the decision to destroy Iraq and murder hundreds of thousands of people there still seemed weird and out of place to me.
It seems like the 'rona is the womanly version of 9/11. Since there's nothing to really lash out at (the attempt to blame China seems pretty half assed), people's fear is directed inward at their neighbors, and goes into ritualistic/ceremonial nonsense like wearing of facemasks and standing a mystical 6 feet apart. Government tapped into busybody snitching and seeking reports about neighbors gathering via Faceberg.
In my area, women call for the national guard to break up Amish gatherings. It's really very weird.
For a while, I thought maybe 40-50% of the public wasn't buying the fear porn propaganda, but now I think it's down to maybe only 20-30% at most. That's the real problem for freedom, and unfortunately for prosperity. The average american is a proto-Nazi or proto-Soviet citizen. On the other hand, most of those proto-Nazis are basically passive, or are content to bitch on Faceberg.
We're in a period of relative calm now, and for some time ahead, but I think widespread disruption of the United States systems are all but a certainty. The danger that's posed by the Oligarchy is too obvious, and they're already taking action. The people who oppose them see it now. It seems like the Oligarchy's end goal is a police state/surveillance state that completely controls movement and economic activity. For example, Baltimore deployed drones to constantly spy on their citizens. The 'rona is a pretext for them to do that.
