As the western world devolves into a retarded shitshow, where addled politicians like Joe "Creamed Corn Brain" Biden meet with retarded former prostitutes to sell their candidacy, the appeal of life according to virtue and Nature becomes more obvious. The idea of leaving the Matrix of bullshit and lies and finding one's own polestar becomes imperative.
The same thing happened in the Classical world, too. The Cynics and the Stoics basically climbed out of the squalor of their imperial states to follow a different path. A lot of the concepts outlined in my blog match their ideas. I either learned them through osmosis over my whole life, or those concepts are just present in the world all the time, and only become apparent in an emergency.
