People moved out of cities en masse from the 30s through the 60s. It seems like that's going to happen again. The Covid bullshit and economic fallout of that nonsense, and the strife around Black Lives Matter riots will probably spark another mass exodus. Cities like Chicago will probably be left with people who can't afford to move, and who might not ever have a job again.
It's a pretty good recipe for mass migration to city centers from abroad. So it seems like the United States is going to end up with ghetto cities lorded over by oligarchs, while the white people all live in suburban and rural areas.
That's a recipe for making the US into a socialist or communist shithole.
