Solving Problems Everyone Has

My theory that the tech industry is completely saturated like railroads were in the 1890s is sound, I think. I think when the "AI bubble" pops, as it already seems to be doing, there won't be a post dot-com style reset... it'll just flatline. I feel kind of sorry for the younger dudes who "learned to code" in recent years. It will be quite a struggle compared to the greenfield days of the 90s and early 2000s. Basically the narrative of "the singularity" or "disruptive tech" or the techtopian future is flopping into the mud.

I think the immediate future is about solving practical, pragmatic problems, that is, problems everyone has; problems involving basic aspects of life, like clean drinking water, or disposing of waste, building cheap roads or houses, etc... Nobody needs another tech gadget or AI, or a humanoid robot. Everybody needs those basic things, like a cheaper road that lasts, or is very cheap and easy to repair. Everybody needs good healthy food packed with nutrients, etc...

Anyway, I think getting out of the boom/bust super financialized parts of the economy like tech is a really good idea.
