New Nuclear Power Scam

The North Carolina electric power company Duke Energy wants ratepayers to subsidize construction of nuclear power plants for "AI", because nuclear power isn't economical. Here's the article: link. The former speaker of the Ohio statehouse is going to jail because he accepted bribes from the Ohio nuclear power provider to make Ohio ratepayers subsidize Ohio nuclear power plants.

Imagine the scenario in North Carolina: the power company wants ratepayers to finance the construction of new plants, but not be "investors". They want them to pay for a service which doesn't exist yet. There's a 50% chance of any nuclear power plant being cancelled, by the way, plus nuclear power companies do not properly dispose of the high level radioactive waste, which will require more subsidies.

For some bizarre reason "big tech" companies want nuclear power for data centers, I guess because it is supposedly more environmentally friendly than natgas fired power plants? The whole thing makes no sense. It's just the strange whims of some randos.
